The reason I titled my blog "wrestling with Christ" is because as young adults, and young Catholics particularly in this world, sometimes finding, developing, and living our faith can be kind of like a wrestling match. We go through trials and tribulations, we struggle to do good in this world and represent Christ in all of our day to day actions, and encounters. I think it is especially hard for teenagers and young people of this world to do this, with all of the peer pressures, and all of the junk the media feeds us it is hard to live out the Catholic faith. With this said, I would like to invite all to read, comment, or whatever you feel comfortable doing, so we can start to build a stronger populatoin of young Catholics. I will say this now, I'm no theologian, I'm no scholar, but I am a young Catholic, trying to live out my faith in this secualr world. I would love to hear the opinions and feelings of others like me and discuss the things that we face. So I invite you to check back and comment as much as possible.

Well said... I pray for your success in this endeavor, but more importantly to your faithfulness in placing your thoughts as a beacon for anyone who wanders across them. I know that as I grow older, I am 33 now, that being Catholic really does mean everything - not so much because of the Church, which I love dearly, but much more because Christ himself has established our Holy Mother Church. To love him is to abandon ourselves to the Church and see that life truly becomes more abundant through the sacraments... may you never cease your wrestling knowing that, like Jacob, you may be wounded by God's burning love, but you will be all the better for it!
I have been reading your blog again Jon and from what I know of you and what I've read it sounds like you are a natural leader of the church and for God. I can honestly say that as a born and raised Catholic it is so true all the trials and struggles we face. My entire family is Catholic. I only ever heard my father sing in Church and my mother had a peaceful look on her face if we were in mass. I grew up with Kady who was also raised Catholic and I believe it is why we are still friends. We fell into our burning ring of fire together but we went together. We are sisters. The only problem is that neither one of us had the leadership ability and so we tried to make the best of what was a confusing time. You spoke of teenagers and young Catholics in another blog. How we all get confused with the media. It's very true. Our society is concerned with social value and net worth. It's a confusing time for teenagers without the conflicts of society and the Church.
It is actually ironic because my entire family thought I denounced my faith but when anyone asked me how I would raise my children I said Catholic. Interesting isn't it?? Now it's a full circle. I've now stated I would follow in my parents footsteps even with the struggles I endured and questioned. I like to think it speaks highly of the faith the Catholic Church instills to its believers.
